PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Six more records fell Saturday as the Bryant University men's and women's swim teams continue to enjoy a strong weekend at the ECAC Championships that run Friday through Sunday at the University of Pittsburgh.

Alex Kosenski (Lavalette, N.J.) had a great swim in the prelims of the men's 200 meter freestyle Saturday morning.  The Bulldog sophomore took fifth overall in a very fast prelim to earn a spot in the finals and set a new school record in the process.

Kosenski touched the wall in a blistering time of 1:41.83, bettering his previous best of 1:45 and beating the previous school mark of 1:44.47 held by teammate Steven Nguyen (San Jose, Calif.).  The top five finishers in the prelims all swam season best marks including Kosenski.

Nguyen swam very well in the event, finishing 21st overall in a season-best time of 1:44.76.   He would also take 35th in the 100 fly prelims earlier in the day in 53.27 seconds.

Thomas Huynh (Malden, Mass.), a freshman, was Bryant's top finisher in the 100 fly, placing 28th in a personal-best 52.61.  Matt Derwin (Cheshire, Conn.) was 51st in 54.77.

Another school record fell later Saturday morning as Sean Martell (Nashua, N.H.) swam very well in the prelims of the 100 breaststroke.  Martell, a sophomore, broke the one-minute mark with a time of 59.90 seconds and improved on his previous school mark of 1:00.22 set earlier this season.  He narrowly missed qualifying for the finals.

In the men's 100 backstroke prelims, Kevin McDonald (North Haven, Conn.) qualified for the B finals with a season-best time of 53.25.  Steve Sinclair (Middleton, Mass.) was 21st in 54.79.

The women were led by Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.) who earned a spot in the B finals of the women's 400 individual medley in a time of 4:37.05 earlier.  Abby Whittaker (Salisbury, Mass.) was 35th in the 100 fly prelims while Brianne Dwyer (Hicksville, N.Y.) swam well in the 100 breast in 1:07.83.  Smith would finish ninth in the finals in a new school record time of 4:31.51.  Smith set the record two weeks ago at the NEC Championships in a tiem fo 4:36.27 but obliterated the record Saturday night.

In the finals Saturday night, Kosenski would finish eighth in the A finals of the 200 free in a time of 1:43.11.  The men's 200 medley relay team of McDonald, Martell, Huynh and Nguyen placed 11th in the finals in 1:37.14.

Freshman Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.) set a new school record in the women's 100 backstroke as the newcomer placed fourth overall in the finals in a time of 56.31, just ahead of her previous school mark of 56.47 set at the conference championships.

McDonald would follow suit for the men as the sophomore set a new school record in the men's 100 back, finishing 10th overall in the finals in a record time of 52.89.
