Take two: Bulldogs sweep dual meet

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Led by a strong showing from its relay teams and a pair of victories from sophomore Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.), the Bryant University men's swimming team earned a two wins at the Blue Devil Duals Saturday afternoon at Central Connecticut State University.

The Bulldogs defeated Southern Connecticut, 114-89, and Fairfield, 133-85, behind five first-place finishes and several other top-three finishes. The men swam to victories in the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay, and finished 2-3 in the 400 medley relay, as the Bulldogs rebounded from a loss to Boston College on Friday night.

The quartet of Cameron Hessler (Southbury, Conn.), Keagan Boshoff (Munich, Germany), John Lawson (Bernardsville, N.J.) and Karadimas earned Bryant a victory in the 200 medley relay to start off the afternoon, and the team of Steve Sinclair (Middleton, Mass.), Alex Dropo (Sandwich, Mass.), Karadimas and Lawson closed out the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay.

After winning the 100 free and taking second in the 200 free Friday, Karadimas claimed both on Saturday. He won the 200 free with a time of 1:49.62, and then swam to a victory in the 100 free in a time of 48.88.

Freshman Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) capped off a successful weekend with another strong showing in the IM and breast events. He claimed second-place finishes in both the 200 IM and the 400 IM and finished third in the 100 breast.

The Bulldogs best event of the afternoon might have been the 100 back, as they claimed the top three spots. Hessler finished first, Sinclair came in second and Dropo came in the third.

Bryant returns to the pool next Sunday, Oct. 23, when it hosts the University of Maine at the Chace Athletic Center Pool. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
