Bulldogs finish sixth at Terrier Invite

BOSTON, Mass. – Aided by top-10 finishes from senior Alex Kosenski (Lavallette, N.J.) and the 400 free relay team, the Bryant University men's swimming team closed out the three-day Terrier Invitational with a sixth-place finish in the final standings.

The Bulldogs finished with 158 points, beating out Stony Brook and Holy Cross. Yale claimed first place with 800.5 points over the weekend, beating out Boston College (712). Boston University, the University of Massachusetts and Drexel finished 3-5.

Kosenski capped an exceptional weekend on Sunday, swimming to a fourth-place finish in the 100 free. With one top-10 finish under his belt already ‑ thanks to a sixth-place finish in the 200 free on Saturday - Kosenski recorded a season-best time of 46.40 in the 100, finishing just a second off the winner. Sophomore Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.) also advanced to the finals in the 100 free, finishing 18th with a season-best time of 47.36.

Five other Bulldogs also advanced to finals competition on Sunday. Swimming the 1650 free for the first time all season, Derek Hawkes (Westbrook, Maine) finished 16th with a time of 17:01.02. Alex Dropo (Sandwich, Mass.) and Steve Sinclair (Middleton, Mass.) each competed in the finals of the 200 back, finishing 23-24. Dropo cut more than six seconds off his previous best, touching the wall with a time of 2:01.25, and Sinclair's time of 2:04.86 was also a season best.

Bryant's two other finalists came in the 200 breast. Freshmen Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) and Keagan Boshoff (Munich, Germany) finished within a second of each other, placing 17th and 20th, respectively. Both registered top times in the event.

As they have all season, the Bulldogs closed the meet with a strong showing from their 400 free relay team. Tim McGrath (Hyannis, Mass.) and John Lawson (Bernardsville, N.J.) swam the first two legs and Karadimas and Kosenski closed it out, leading the Black and Gold to a seventh-place finish. The quartet finished with a time of 3:08.98.

Bryant has nearly two weeks off from competition before it returns to the pool on Friday, Dec. 2, at the URI Invitational in Kingston, R.I. The meet concludes on Saturday, Dec. 3.
