Hong, Bjornberg pace swimming sweep Sunday

BRYANT SWIMMING SWEEPS SFC AND NJIT ON SUNDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshmen Kevin Hong (Bridgewater, N.J.) and Joshua Bjornberg (Wallingford, Conn.) each won two events to lead the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team to 168-85 and 158-95 victories over St. Francis Brooklyn and NJIT on Sunday (Jan. 13).

In addition to Hong's three victories, the Bulldogs (4-1) received two victories from Alex Kosenski (Lavallette, N.J.). Hong and Bjornberg helped Bryant's freshman class claim six first-place finishes on the afternoon.

After having won just two events in the first half of the season, Hong matched that mark on Sunday. He won the 100 back (56.68) and the 200 back (2:06.16). Bjornberg continued his strong freshman campaign with victories in the 100 (1:00.93) and 200 breast (2:14.50). Kosenski's two victories came in the 100 (48.25) and 200 free (1:45.95). Freshman Andrew Neggia (Ramsey, N.J.) won the 500 free (5:01.66), as well.

Bryant returns to the pool this weekend when it travels to Amherst, Mass., to face Massachusetts on Saturday, Jan. 19.
