Bulldogs stumble against the Minutemen

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Joshua Bjornberg (Wallingford, Conn.) continued his stellar second half with a pair of victories but the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team fell to the University of Massachusetts, 185-104, on Saturday (Jan. 19).

The Bulldogs dropped just their second dual meet of the season, falling to 4-2 on the season. UMass improved to 2-4 with the victory on senior day.

A week after claiming a pair of victories at NJIT and St. Francis Brooklyn, Bjornberg picked up victories in the 200 breast (2:12.87) and the 200 IM (2:02.22) against the Minutemen. He also added a second-place finish in the 100 breast (1:00.41). Alex Kosenski (Lavallette, N.J.) finished second in the 100 free (47.33), Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.) finished second in the 100 fly (53.61) and Kevin Hong (Bridgewater, N.J.) finished second in the 200 back (2:02.40).

Bryant returns to the Chace Athletic Center Pool this Thursday, Jan. 25, when it hosts intrastate rival Brown. Prior to the meet, the Bulldogs will honor their senior class.
