Providence earns 138-124 victory on Friday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore Joshua Bjornberg (Wallingford, Conn.) won two events but it wasn't enough as Providence earned a 138-124 victory over the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team on Friday night at the Chace Athletic Center Pool.

The Bulldogs are now 0-2 on the young season, while the Friars improved to 1-0.

Bjornberg was solid for the Black and Gold on Friday, winning the 200 breast (2:14.48) and the 100 fly (53.35). Bryant also got victories from senior Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.), junior Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) and both relay teams. Karadimas claimed the 50 free (21.83) and Beck won the 100 breast (59.77).

Both also helped in the relays as Beck joined with sophomore Kevin Hong (Bridgewater, N.J.), Bjornberg and freshman Pierre Le Guyader (East Islip, N.Y.) to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:37.46. Karadimas then guided the 400 free relay team to a victory in the final event of the night. He joined with a trio of freshman in Le Guyader, Zachary Hannon (Marlborough, Mass.) and Boris Paraliticci (Saunderstown, R.I.) to win the event with a time of 3:16.94.

The Bulldogs return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 15 when they host the University of Maine.
