MSWM downs Maine, 147-115, on Friday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.) swept the sprint free events to lead the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team to a 147-115 victory over Maine on Friday night at the Chace Athletic Center Pool.

The victory is the first of the year for the Bulldogs (1-2) and their second in as many years over the Black Bears (1-2-1).

Karadimas was dominant on Friday night, winning the 50, 100 and 200. He won the 50 with a time of 21.51, the 100 with a time of 47.18 and the 200 with a time of 1:47.29. Karadimas also swam the final leg of the victorious 200 free relay team.

Bryant received several other strong performances, including first-place finishes from senior Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) and sophomore Joshua Bjornberg (Wallingford, Conn.). Beck and Bjornberg split the breast events, with Beck taking the 100 breast (59.66) and Bjornberg grabbing the 200 breast (2:12.76). Sophomore Kevin Hong (Bridgewater, N.J.) also notched a pair of second-place finishes in the back events, finishing the 100 with a time of 55.33 and the 200 with a time of 1:59.58. Freshman Pierre Le Guyader (East Islip, N.Y.) finished second to Karadimas in both the 50 (22.50) and 100 (49.36) free events.

The Bulldogs return to the pool on Sunday, Nov. 17 when they face Keene State in Burlington, Vt. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
