Owls defeat Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore Joshua Bjornberg (Wallingford, Conn.) set a Forbush Natatorium record in the 100 breast and classmate Conor Makepeace (Wallingford, Conn.) won the 1 meter dive but it wasn't enough as Keene State defeated the Bryant men's swimming and diving team, 174-121, on Sunday afternoon in Burlington, Vt.

The Bulldogs (1-3) were swimming in their second meet of the weekend, having defeated Maine on Friday night. The Owls (5-1) are ranked sixth in the most recent Division III national poll.

Coming off an outstanding freshman season, Bjornberg set a pool record on Sunday, winning the 100 breast with a time of 59.44. He added a victory in the 200 breast (2:12.12) to highlight his afternoon. Diving for just the second time this year, Makepeace won the 1 meter event with 277.55 points. Bryant also received a first-place finish from senior Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.) in the 200 IM (2:00.14). Junior Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) finished second in both the 1000 free (10:14.87) and the 200 breast (2:14.18).

The Bulldogs return to the pool this weekend when they compete in the URI Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22-23 in Kingston, R.I.
