Bjornberg wins twice vs. UMass

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore Joshua Bjornberg (Wallingford, Conn.) won a pair of events but it wasn't enough as the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team fell to UMass, 178-84, on Saturday afternoon at the Chace Athletic Center.

The Bulldogs (1-4) return to the pool on Sunday as they host NJIT and St. Francis Brooklyn at the Chace Athletic Center.

Bjornberg dominated the breast events against the Minutemen, winning both the 100 and 200 breast events. He won the 100 with a time of 1:00.16 and the 200 with a time of 2:15.17. Classmates Kevin Hong (Bridgewater, N.J.) and Andrew Neggia (Ramsey, N.J.) also earned first-place finishes on Saturday. Hong won the 1000 free with a time of 10:18.18 and Neggia won the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.21.

Junior Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) and senior Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.) each added a second-place finish on the day. Beck finished just behind Bjornberg in the 100 breast (1:00.48) and Karadimas was second in the 50 free, getting outtouched by two one hundredths of a second.
