Team effort leads Bulldogs past Terriers

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's swimming and diving team won 11 different events on its way to a convincing victory over St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon.

Following the victory, the Bulldogs embarked on their annual training trip to Puerto Rico. The Black and Gold will spend the next week improving before returning to face UMass next Saturday the 17th.

On Thursday, freshmen classmates Ben Schulte (Mermaid Beach, Australia) and Colin Curtin (Wethersfield, Conn.) each took home a pair of first-place finishes to lead the way. Schulte continued his stellar rookie campaign with victories in the 200 IM (1:59.66) and the 100 free (48.96). Curtin claimed the 100 back (54.26) and the 500 free (4:53.99).

Bryant also earned victories in the 1000 free, 200 free, 50 free, 100 fly, 100 breast, 200 medley relay and 200 free relay. Senior Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) matched Schulte and Curtin with victories in the 200 free (1:50.54) and the 100 breast (59.79). Samuel Linder (Dillsburg, Pa.) won the 1000 free (10:20.92), Pierre Le Guyader (East Islip, N.Y.) won the 50 free (22.04) and Joshua Bjornberg (Wallingford, Conn.) won the 100 fly (54.03).

In the relays, Curtin, Beck, Bjornberg and Zachary Hannon (Marlborough, Conn.) combined to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.03. Benon Boyadjian (Middlebury, Conn.), George Sommerville (Pittsfield, Mass.), Schulte and Le Guyader won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:28.67.
