Bulldogs start strong at Day 1 of the Gompei Invitationals
WORCESTER, MA – After the first day of the Gompei Invitational the Bulldogs have the combined score of 2,393, which is good for first place.
Notes and Notables
- The Bulldogs started strong with a win and a meet record in the mixed 200 medley relay. Matthew Mays (St. Croix, Virgin Islands), FuKang Wong (Johor, Malaysia), Elin Svärd (Falun, Sweden), and Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) finished with a time of 1:39.39.
- In the 200 individual medley the Black and Gold took two spots in the top three, with Wong (1:51.11) finishing first and Mays (1:55.47) finishing third.
- Andrew Allen (Bedford, N.H.) placed third in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.09.
- The Bulldogs continued their winning ways with a first place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:02.07) by Wong.
- In the one-meter dive, Trevor Hazlewood (Corpus Christi, Texas) finished third (451.75).
- The Black and gold finished with two top three finishes in relay races. Mays, Wong, Zach Digiaro (Middletown, N.J.), and Allen placed second (1:30.57) in the 200 medley relay. Mays, Robert Davis (Glastonbury, Conn.), Matthew Mastroianni (Glastonbury, Conn), and Wong placed third (6:58.54) in the 800 freestyle relay.
