Misto and Buonocore sweep weekly awards

BOSTON - James Misto and Christopher Buonocore of the Bryant University men's swimming & diving team were both honored with weekly awards by the America East on Tuesday afternoon.

Misto earned the Male Swimmer of the Week while Buonocore picked up Male Diver of the Week.

Misto grabbed four total wins this weekend against Boston University, two individual and two relay. The freshman took victories in the 50 yard freestyle (20.61) and the 100 yard butterfly (48.87). He also was a part of the winning 200 yard medley (1:30.94)  and 200 yard freestyle (1:23.82) relay teams. Misto split 20.68 in the third leg of the medley relay and 20.59 in the first leg of the free relay.

Buonocore took first in both diving events at BU. The sophomore broke 300 in both events, scoring a 312.83 in the 1 meter and 339.28 in the 3 meter. Buonocore broke the program record of 320.70 in the 3m with his performance against BU. The New York native also qualified for the NCAA DI Diving Championships with his scores.

This is Misto's first weekly award of the season and his Bulldog career. Buonocore, on the other hand, snags his fifth weekly honor of the year. This is also the first time this season that the men have swept the weekly awards. The diving program also swept the awards this week with Megan Beasley winning the award on the women's side as well.

Misto, Buonocore, and the Bulldogs hit the pool again for the America East Championships on Feb.14-17th at VMI in Lexington, VA.
