Dawgs earn 10 medals on Day 3 of AE Championships

LEXINGTON, VA - The Bryant University swimming & diving team swam to 10 medals, six of which were gold, on Day 3 of the America East Championships.

The men's side sits at second in the team standings at 509.50 points while the women's team is in third with 450 points.

Notes and Notables

  • Aidan Trenery opened the night for the men's side with a gold medal performance in the 400 IM. The sophomore swam a 3:58.44 to earn the first medal of his career as well as the pool record.
  • Julia Stenhard picked up her first individual medal of the week as she took bronze in the 100 fly with a time of 54.88. The bronze is Stenhard's fourth medal in the event. She won the silver in the event at last year's America East Championships as well as a gold her sophomore year and a silver her freshman year at the NEC Championships.
  • James Misto snagged his second individual medal and fourth medal overall with his third place finish in the 100 fly. Misto raced a 47.70 in the event to take the bronze.
  • Conner Lofstrom earned the gold in the 200 free for the first time of his career. The junior raced to a program and pool record 1:36.75 to take the victory. The medal is Lofstrom's third of his career in the event after previously earning two silvers in the 200 free.
  • Gustav Persson took his first individual medal of the meet after earning two relay medals so far this week. Persson picked up the silver in the 100 breast with his time of 54.38.
  • Reagan Lord and Julia Stenhard took first and third in the 100 back to add two more medals to the Bulldogs' repertoire. Lord's time of 53.95 earned her the third gold medal in the 100 back of her career. Stenhard swam a 55.39 to take the third medal of her career in the event. The senior had previously won a bronze and a silver in the 100 back.
  • Griffin Lajoie defended his 2023 title by swimming to the gold medal in the 100 back on Friday evening. In a tight race, Lajoie closed the gap in the last 25 yards to lay down a 48.21 for the victory.
  • Christopher Buonocore made it a clean sweep of the diving events on the men's side with his victory in the 1 meter event. Buonocore scored a 296.55 to take his second gold of the meet.
  • To finish off the night, the men's 400 medley relay team edged out Binghamton and UMBC with a time of 3:12.99 to win the gold. The team of Griffin Lajoie, Gustav Persson, James Misto, and Conner Lofstrom also set a program and a pool record with their performance.
