Men finish second and women finish third at America East Championships

LEXINGTON, VA - The Bryant University swimming & diving team rounded out the America East Championships by reaching the podium 10 times on Day 4.

The men's side ended their week in second place with 709.5 points, while the women finished the meet in third place with 635.50 points.

Notes and Notables

  • Makayla Pearce and Natalia Kuipers went 2-3 in the 1650 free to pick up the points for the Bulldogs. Pearce's time of 16:46.40 is a new school record in the event on the women's side. Kuipers swam to a 17:01.33 to take the bronze.
  • Leo Luna continued to show his dominance in the distance freestyle events as he took the gold in the 1650 free for the third straight year. The junior raced to a pool record 15:33.17 to successfully defend his 2023 title.
  • Reagan Lord took her third individual medal of the meet as she picked up the silver in the 200 back. Lord swam a 1:59.56 to take second place.
  • Griffin Lajoie earned the bronze in the 200 back. Lajoie raced to a 1:46.62 to pick up the third medal of his career in the event.
  • Conner Lofstrom took the silver in the 100 free for his sixth overall medal of the week. The junior's time of 44.10 was enough to set a new program record in the event.
  • Elayna Pistrin took her first individual medal and second overall when she won the bronze in the 200 breast. Pistrin's time of 2:17.23 earned her the program record in the event as well.
  • Gustav Persson swam to a 1:59.07 in the 200 breast to take his second individual silver of the meet. Persson has collected six medals over the course of the Championships.
  • Julia Stenhard placed on the podium for the fourth time this meet. The senior laid down a 2:03.60 to take the bronze in the 200 fly.
  • The men's 400 free team finished off their outstanding week with a bronze finish in the last event of the Championships. The team of James Misto, Gustav Persson, Chase Konstantakos, and Conner Lofstrom set a new program record in the event with their time of 3:00.35
  • Christopher Buonocore's performance over the week earned him Male Diver of the Meet. Buonocore placed first in both the 1 and 3 meter events and earned a pool record in the 1 meter during the meet.

This marks the end of the season for many of the Bryant athletes. Some, however, will be competing at the National Invitational Championships and the NCAA Championships in March.
