BRYANT MEN’S TENNIS SIGNS FOUR TO JOIN PROGRAM IN 2010
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head men’s tennis coach Ron Gendron is pleased to announce the signing of four student-athletes to enroll and participate in men’s tennis in the fall of 2010. This year’s four student-athletes, Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, North Carolina), Connor Crowley (London, Ontario), Nolan Gelman (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and Christopher Corrigan (Lincoln, R.I.), will join the Bulldogs as the program prepares for its third year competing at the Division I level.
“We are very pleased to have these four outstanding young men join our program at Bryant University,” said Gendron. “This is a very talented class that will contribute right away, giving us our best lineup since moving to Division I.”
Parziale lost only four singles and two doubles matches during his career at Pinecrest High School. He was the conference and regional singles champion the past two season and has won numerous United States Tennis Association (USTA) events. He is currently ranked sixth in the state of North Carolina according to tennisrecruiting.net and ranked 63rd in the Southeast.
Gelman, a standout player at Half Hollow Hills High School posted a 20-6 record overall this past season and is currently the 20th-ranked player in New York and ranked 33rd in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Crowley will become the second Canadian on the Bulldogs’ roster, joining fellow countryman Nicholai Hill. Crowley, who will graduate from Mother Teresa Secondary School, is a Top-45 under-18 player and two-time conference doubles champion. Ranked nationally in the Canadian Top-60 in Canada, he recently won the Cricket Club U-18 OTA tournament. During this past high school season, he was the WOSSA Champion, OFSSA bronze medalist and named as the school’s athlete of the year.
Corrigan, a member of the Lincoln High School senior class of 2010 in nearby Lincoln, R.I., is currently the third-ranked player in the state of Rhode Island and ranked 33rd in New England. He was named All-State in 2008 and was the only Division II player on the first team All-State squad this past year. He posted the best record in the division among No. 1 singles players and led Lincoln to a 13-3 regular-season record. In the state championships, Corrigan pushed two-time first-team All-State selection Andrew Burnap to three sets before dropping a close decision.
