MEN’S TENNIS DROPS 4-3 DECISION TO BU

Results

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Despite a pair of gutsy performances at the top two single spots, the Bryant University men's tennis team could not pull off a second-straight win over Boston University as the Bulldogs fell, 4-3, on the road Sunday afternoon.

Bryant (4-4) knocked off visiting Boston University in a 5-2 decision last Fall, anchored by a sweep at doubles and three singles wins, but the Terriers returned the favor at home with similar results to improve to 4-3 on the season.

The home side claimed the doubles point after Bill Kring and Alex Green took the third spot to secure the sweep, narrowly defeating Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) and Vidith Huot (Providence, R.I.), 8-7 (5).

The Bulldogs bounced back with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, as junior Juan Paredes (Quito, Ecuador) downed Josh Friedman, 7-6 (3), 6-1, and senior Cristian Balestrieri (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) fought back from an early deficit to beat Michael Kopelman, 1-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Freshman Nolan Gelman (Dix Hills, N.Y.) came out on top at No. 4 singles with a win over Jesse Frieder, 6-4, 6-1, but the Terriers needed just the three singles victories to claim the 4-3 decision.

The Black and Gold return to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 26 when they play Sacred Heart on the campus of Yale University.
