FOUR IN-A-ROW FOR MEN'S TENNIS

Bulldogs visit Stony Brook Sunday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Beating a team for the second time in the same season can prove to be a difficult task.  Especially when it was just about a month ago that Bryant and Hofstra last met on a neutral court in East Hartford, Conn. where the Bulldogs came out on top 5-2.  However, just as they did in that meeting in early March, the Bulldogs once again used strong singles play and got another standout performance from the Canadian Contingency to knock off the Pride yet again by the same score 5-2 Saturday in Hempstead, N.Y.

Bryant (13-6), winners of four in-a-row heading into Sunday's showdown at Stony Brook, dropped the doubles point as the Pride swept all three doubles to begin the match. But, just as they did last week in a pair of road wins at Villanova and Monmouth, the Bulldogs came roaring back in singles play.

Senior Cristian Balestrieri led the charge with an impressive 6-2, 6-1 straight-set victory over Antonio Pena at No. 1. Peter Hart Callahan would fall to Chris Damion in a hard-fought, three-set match at No. 2, but it would be the only singles defeat on the day as freshmen Dana Parziale and Nolan Gelman each came through with strong straight-set wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively.

Fellow freshman Connor Crowley of London, Ontario, needed just two sets to get past Jason Sinkoff at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-1 while fellow countryman, Nicholai Hill of Ottawa, rallied back from dropping the first set to Adrian Bailey 6-3, to win 7-6 in the second and closed out the victory with a 10-6 decision in the third.
