Bulldogs host Brandeis in final match of 2011

The Bryant University men's tennis team plays host to Brandeis University this afternoon in the final match of the 2010-11 season starting at 3 pm at the Bryant tennis courts.

Today's match also marks the final home appearance for seniors Cristian Balestrieri, Nicholai Hill, Peter Hart Callahan and Juan Paredes.

The four have been instrumental in establishing the Bryant men's tennis not only among the elite teams in  Division I and the Northeast Conference, but throughout the Northeast Region as well.

This season, the Bulldogs have won a program-best 14 matches since moving to Division I three years ago.  The fall season saw the Bulldogs pick up wins over Boston University and Holy Cross while this past spring has been arguably one of the best ever in school history.
Playing 14 matches away from home in a row, the Bulldogs earned solid wins over Hartford, Hofstra (twice), conference rivals Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac, Villanova - the first-ever win over a Big East school, and finally last weekend with an incredible victory over regional power Stony Brook.

During his four-year career, Balestrieri has posted a 53-38 overall record including 48-33 record in dual matches.  He has 36 career wins at No. 1 singles play and is 12-4 all-time when playing at the second flight.
