Parziale earns NEC Player of the Week title

Parziale sixth straight singles win earns him NEC weekly honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – With victories at the #2 singles spot and #3 doubles flight in Bryant's 5-2 win over Northeast Conference preseason favorite Quinnipiac on Saturday, men's tennis sophomore Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) was honored by the conference by being named the NEC's Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Parziale, the 2010-11 NEC Rookie of the Year, has continued to make major strides during his sophomore campaign with the Bulldogs.  On Saturday, he contributed to his team's victory over the Bobcats with a 6-4, 6-4 win at #2 singles over the Bobcats' Garrett Lane.  Parziale has now won six straight singles matches and is a perfect 4-0 at the #2 flight en-route to an 18-7 mark on the season.

The North Carolina native completed his perfect Saturday by pairing up with classmate Connor Crowley (London, Ont.) for an 8-2 win at #3 doubles to help the Bulldogs clinch the crucial first point of the match.

Tuesday's honor was not the first for the season for the sophomore, as Parziale was also named the NEC Player of the Month last October.

The Bulldogs have now won seven straight matches to move to 9-4 on the season. Bryant will go at it again this weekend with its final home dual match against league foe Monmouth slated for Saturday, March 31, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Bryant Tennis Complex.
