Bulldogs blank Pioneers, 7-0, Thursday

MEN'S TENNIS REMAINS UNBEATEN IN NEC, TOPPING SACRED HEART, 7-0, THURSDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I.—The Bryant University men's tennis team completed a perfect 7-0 sweep of Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Conn., Thursday afternoon to improve to 5-0 in Northeast Conference play this season.

Bryant's big three of junior Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.), sophomore Zachary Morris (Garden City, N.Y.) and freshman Max Vogt (Fair Oaks, Calif.) led the way with another impressive outing. Morris defeated James Barnhart, 7-5, 6-2, at #1 singles, Vogt defeated Justin Pagan, 6-4, 6-2, in the #2 spot, and Parziale took care of business in the three-hole, beating Matt Dean, 6-1, 6-1.

Ernesto Arguello (Managua, Nicaragua), Joshua Rubinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) and Vidith Huot (Providence, R.I.) swept singles spots 4-6 as well. Arguello took care of Brian Power in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-2, Rubinstein topped Josh Lopresti, 6-2, 7-5, and Huot came from behind to defeatd Mike Provezino, 5-7, 7-5 (10-6).

In double action, Parziale and Morris continued to roll as a pairing, defeating Barhart/Kevin Budrawich, 8-6, while Arguello and Huot took down Power/Jeremy Shuskus, 8-2. Vogt and partner Munir Serin (Mersin, Turkey) beat Luka Bagi, 8-3, in the third doubles position.

The Bulldogs have just one NEC match remaining on their 2012-13 slate, at St. Francis Brooklyn on April 11, before the conference championships begin on Thursday, April 18. Through five NEC matches this season, Bryant has totaled a score of 28-7.
