Bulldogs fall to Bears, 5-2, Saturday

MORRIS AND PARZIALE EARN BIG WIN IN 5-2 LOSS TO BROWN SATURDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team put up a strong showing against a very talented Brown squad Saturday despite falling, 5-2, to the Ivy League powerhouse.

Sophomore Zachary Morris (Garden City, N.Y.) and junior Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C) both earned huge wins in singles action to lead the Bulldogs after getting swept, 7-0, just 11 days earlier.

Morris topped Brown's Michael Riechmann, 5-7. 6-4 (10-5), in the number one singles spot as the sophomore continues his stellar second season as a Bulldog. Morris's come-from-behind victory over Riechmann, one of the highest-ranked players in the Northeast, is one of the best wins of his young career and in Bryant men's tennis history.

Parziale also earned a quality victory over Brandon Burke, 7-6, 6-3, in the number three singles position as the junior continues to distinguish himself as one of the best players in the Northeast Conference this season.

The Bulldogs earned a big win in the doubles play as freshmen Munir Serin (Mersin, Turkey) and Max Vogt (Fair Oaks, Calif.) defeated the duo of Jacob Lester and Luscas Da Silveira, 8-7. Morris and Parziale were solid in their doubles match as well, taking Riechmann and Justin To down to the wire, falling 9-7.

Bryant is arguably playing its best tennis of the 2012-13 season at the right time with just six matches left until the NEC Championships begin on Thursday, April 18.
