Bulldogs earn perfect 6-0 mark in NEC

MEN'S TENNIS TOPS ST. FRANCIS, 6-1, AND FORDHAM, 5-2, TO SWEEP WEEKEND PLAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team swept its weekend action in New York, first by solidifying a perfect 6-0 record in Northeast Conference play with a 6-1 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, before topping Fordham 5-2 on Sunday.

Saturday vs. the Terriers, the Bulldogs had an opportunity to clinch a perfect 6-0 mark in NEC play this season and they accomplished just that in convincing fashion topping SFC, 6-1. Freshman Max Vogt (Fair Oaks, Calif.) led the charge with another perfect 2-0 day, topping Francesc Tern-Campius, 6-1, 6-4, in singles and Alex Tokarz and Evan Vrasilko, 8-4, with partner Munir Serin (Mersin, Turkey) in doubles.

Junior Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) nearly blanked Vrasliko at the number two singles spot, 6-1, 6-0, and sophomore Ernesto Arguello (Nabagua, Nicaragua) defeated Ricardo Garcia, 6-0, 6-0, in the three-hole. Senior Vidith Huot (Providence, R.I.) was also perfect on the afternoon, defeating Tita Mba, 6-0, 6-3, in singles and Tern-Campius/Mba, 8-4, in doubles action with Arguello. Sophomore Joshua Rubinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) rounded out the singles winners with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Tokarz in number five singles.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs swept singles spots 2-6 to earn a big win over Fordham at the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts in the Bronx, N.Y. Parziale earned another singles win over Michael Puntillo, 6-0, 6-1, in the number two spot, while Arguello topped Peder Gram, 6-3, 6-0, at number three singles. Rubinstein and Huot defeated Max Peara and Jan Krouham in number four and five singles, respectively, to close out a solid weekend for the pairing.

Freshman Munir Serin earned a huge victory over Fordham's regionally-ranked Kuba Kowalski, 6-1, 6-3, in number six singles for just his second singles win of the season. Serin Vogt also earned a W in doubles play, topping Kowalski and Matty Najfeld, 8-2.

The Bulldogs have just four matches remaining over the next seven days before NEC Championships open on Thursday, April 18.
