Bulldogs win third-straight, top UConn, 6-1, Wed.

MEN'S TENNIS REMAINS UNSCATHED IN APRIL, TOPPING UCONN, 6-1, WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis continued its undefeated run in April, topping the University of Connecticut, 6-1, Wednesday afternoon at the Bryant Tennis Complex.

With the victory, the Bulldogs improve to 11-8 overall on the year, and 3-0 in the month of April. Bryant got off to a great start sweeping doubles play to set an early tone on its home court. Sophomore Ernesto Arguello (Managua, Nicaragua) and junior Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) defeated a very talented UConn duo of Ryan Carr and Wayne Harrell, 8-6, in the number one spot, while senior Vidith Huot (Providence, R.I.) and sophomore Joshua Rubinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) topped Zac McEntee and Josh Palmer, 8-6, in the three hole. In number two doubles, the freshmen tandem of Max Vogt (Fair Oaks, Calif.) and Munir Serin (Mersin, Turkey) overcame a tiebreak to win over James Cohen and Mark HoSang, 8-7 (8-6).

In singles action, Harrell took Parziale to three sets at number one singles, but the junior captain came back in the third set to win his sixth-straight singles match, 7-5, 0-6, 6-0. At the number two position, Vogt took down Carr, 6-2, 7-5, while Arguello earned his third-straight singles victory in convincing fashion, 6-2, 6-3, over Andrew Ginsberg in number three singles.

In the number five spot, Rubinstein came from behind to defeat McEntee after dropping the first set, 3-6, the sophomore fought back to win the next two, 7-5, 10-8, to earn the point for Bryant. Serin improved to 3-0 in his Bulldog singles career, defeating James Cohen, 6-3, 6-4, to round out another solid outing for the Black and Gold.

Bryant has just three matches remaining over the course of the next five days (all in Smithfield) beginning with Brandeis on Thursday (3 p.m.) at the Bryant Tennis Complex.
