MEN'S TENNIS TO PLAY #2 FDU SUNDAY IN NEC TOURNEY FINALS

SMITHFIELD, R.I. –  Behind a stellar day's from sophomores Zachary Morris (Garden City, N.Y.) and Ernesto Arguello (Managua, Nicaragua) the top-seeded Bryant University men's tennis team delivered a 4-0 sweep of #4 Mount St. Mary's in the Northeast Conference Tournament Quarterfinals Saturday afternoon in West Windsor, N.J.

With the victory, the Bulldogs have earned the right to play in the NEC Tournament Finals, Sunday afternoon against #2 Fairleigh Dickinson.

On Saturday, Bryant was all business, wasting little time jumping out to a 1-0 lead behind some solid doubles play. Morris and partner Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) took care of business in the number one position, topping Matt Blake and Taylor Place, 8-5, while sophomore Arguello and senior Vidith Huot (Providence, R.I.) took down Mike Salomon and Adam Salam, 8-6, in the number two spot.

In singles play, Morris had to work from behind against Matt Blake at number one singles after dropping the first set, 3-6, the sophomore came on strong, winning the final two sets with ease, 6-0, 6-3. Freshman Max Vogt (Fair Oaks, Calif.) continued his exceptional play at the NEC Championships, remaining unbeaten in singles action, defeating Salam, 6-4, 6-3. Arugello was just as impressive in the three-hole, dominating Austin Blake in straight set, 6-2, 6-2.

In their first season of Division I postseason eligibility, the Bulldogs have an opportunity to make history on Sunday against #2 Fairleigh Dickinson. Earlier this year, Bryant topped the Knights, 4-3, in a hard-earned match in February.

The Black and Gold will look to continue its winning ways Sunday, bringing a NEC Title back to Smithfield in the process.
