Parziale, Arguello earn flight title at USTA

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After getting off to a strong start on Friday and Saturday, the dynamic duo of senior Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) and junior Ernesto Arguello (Managua, Nicaragua) of the Bryant University men's tennis team earned a huge flight title in the no. one doubles draw at the USTA Invitational Sunday morning.

After defeating a pair of teams in the early rounds to get to the flight semifinals, the Bryant co-captains came back on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning even stronger, topping two more pairings to achieve one of the biggest accomplishments in program history.

Saturday afternoon, Parziale and Arguello got some well-deserved vindication topping Northeast Conference rival Fairleigh Dickinson's Arvis Berzins and Arnaud Valentin in convincing fashion, 8-4. In the finals, the Bulldog tandem grinded out a huge victory over Cameron Amyot and Ian Tesmond of Fairfield, 8-6, to win the draw.

The Bulldogs will close out the month of September with a busy weekend as they prep for the UConn Invitational (Fri.-Sun.) and the Bryant Invitational in Smithfield on Saturday and Sunday.
