Parziale earns NEC monthly honor

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Coming off a month to remember, senior captain Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) of the Bryant University men's tennis teams was named Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Co-Player of the Month for the month of September, announced Tuesday afternoon.

After finishing the month with a 7-1 overall singles record and a perfect 4-0 doubles mark, the three-time All-NEC performer is off to a blistering start to his senior campaign. Parziale kicked things off with a flight title in the no. 1 singles draw at the Brown Invitational, topping regionally ranked William Spector of Brown, 7-6, 0-6, 6-2, in the semifinals, before taking care of reigning MAAC Player of the Year Dalen Klassen (Marist), 6-3, 6-3, in the finals.

At the USTA BJK NTC Men's College Invitational, he and partner Ernesto Arguello (Managua, Nicaragua) put on a performance to remember, running the table to win the illustrious no. 1 doubles draw. After topping tandems from Marist and Boston College in the opening rounds, the Bryant duo took down FDU's Arvis Berzins and Arnaud Valentin, 8-4, in the semifinals before defeating Cameron Amyot and Ian Tesmond of Fairfield in the finals, 8-6.

The senior captain hasn't slowed down either, going 2-0 at no.1 singles at the Bryant Invitational in Smithfield this past weekend.

Parziale and the Bulldogs get back after it over the weekend when they head to Hamden, Conn., for the Quinnipiac Invitational starting on Friday. The Black and Gold also host Holy Cross Saturday afternoon at the Bryant Tennis Courts (1 p.m.).
