Morris named ECAC Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – On the heels of the first Northeast Conference Championship in program history, Zachary Morris (Garden City, N.Y.) of the Bryant University men's tennis team was named Corvias ECAC Men's Tennis Players of the Week, announced the conference Wednesday.

The NEC Men's Tennis championship went down to the wire, coming down to the No. 2 singles match-up of Morris and Fairleigh Dickinson University's Jacob Whalley. Morris took the first set by a 6-4 margin and was up 5-4 in the second set, when Whalley extended the set to a tiebreaker, which he won to push the match to three sets. In the third set, Morris took control, lifting the Bulldogs to their first NEC crown with a 6-1 win.

The weekly honor is Morris's second of the year after winning NEC Player of the Week on March 13.

Looking ahead, Morris and the Bulldogs await to see where they will head next for the first round of the NCAA Tournament which commences on May 15. The official selection show can be seen on NCAA.com on Tuesday, April 29 at 5 p.m.
