Lorenz picks up big win despite loss at No. 25 Harvard

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team fell to No. 25 ranked Harvard, 6-1, Sunday afternoon in Cambridge, Mass.

The Bulldogs continued navigating through the gauntlet that makes up the early portion of their spring schedule with arguably its toughest test to date, No. 25 Harvard. In doubles action, the Crimson took care of business with relative ease, taking No. 1 and 3 doubles to open the 1-0 match lead.

In singles play, Harvard again proved to be too much for the Black and Gold as they took five of six matches to pick up the 6-1 victory. However, a pair of freshman provided the best performances for Bryant, with freshman Luke Lorenz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) earning his first victory of the spring with a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 win over Conor Haughey at No. 5 singles. Classmate Matt Kuhar (Smithfield, R.I.) was also impressive at No. 1 singles, taking Harvard's ace Brian Yeung to the wire before dropping the three-set thriller.

Still in search of their first dual match victory of the 2014-15 season, the Bulldogs return to action during Spring Break week with matches at Lamar (March 9), Louisiana-Lafayette (March 11) and New Orleans (March 13).
