Kuhar named ITA Northeast Most Improved Senior

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University men's tennis redshirt junior Matt Kuhar (Smithfield, R.I.) was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Most Improved Senior on Monday afternoon.

Kuhar becomes the second Bryant men's tennis player to win the award, joining Dana Parziale in 2014.

The 2017-18 season was a special one for Kuhar as he became the first Bulldog to win back-to-back Northeast Conference Player of the Year honors. He went 26-8 on the season, posting a 20-4 mark at No. 1 singles in the spring.

"It's a credit to our culture that we have taken home this award twice," head coach Ron Gendron said. "Our seniors never mail it in. They view their senior year as the year to go all out. I am very proud of the work put in by our latest award winner."

Kuhar impressive season featured five matches against nationally-ranked opponents, including a win over the No. 54 player in the country, Cal's Billy Griffith. He went a perfect 5-0 against NEC opponents on his way to All-NEC First Team honors at singles and doubles.
