Incoming men's tennis freshmen Pregel and Forchetti win state titles

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University men's tennis incoming freshman Andrew Pregel and Andrew Forchetti capped their high school careers with state championships this past week.

Pregel, from Cincinnati, Ohio, claimed the Division II state championship in Ohio. The Indian Hill senior cruised through the tournament, dropping only three games in his four victories. Pregel won the state title with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Forchetti, from Orange, Conn., successfully defended his Connecticut Class L state title on Thursday. The Notre Dame West Haven senior cruised through the first five rounds of the state tournament before earning a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 victory over the No. 2 seed.

Pregel is a four-star recruit that is currently No. 136 in the country, while Forchetti is a three-star recruit that is ranked No. 417 in the nation.
