Bulldogs close Ohio trip with dominant win over Wright St.

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Bryant University men's tennis team closed out its Ohio trip with a dominating 6-1 victory over Wright St.  

Bryant dropped its first match of the day, 4-3, to the University of Dayton.

Coach Gendron's Comments

"Great test to bounce back from a well fought Dayton match and dropping the doubles point as well. But with our backs to the wall, we showed who we are. Sweeping the singles only dropping a set is as dominating of a win we have had over an opponent all season. Very rewarding win for a split squad. Looking forward to what our other guys can do tomorrow vs. ECU."

How it Happened (Dayton)

• Dayton opened the match by sweeping the doubles point.
• The Flyers were then able to hold off the Bulldogs, winning at each of the top three singles spots.
• Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico), Andrew Pregel (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Grant Pertile (Edgartown, Mass.) all picked up wins in singles.

How it Happened (Wright St.)

• Once again the Black and Gold found themselves down after doubles.
• Bryant, however, responded with a resounding sweep of all six singles matches to earn the dominating victory.
• The Bulldogs won five of the six singles in straight sets and allowed just one set to go past 6-2.
