Wilbur Powers Bulldogs To Sweep of Skyhawks at Stonehill

The Bryant Bulldogs swept a doubleheader from the Stonehill Skyhawks 2-0 and 12-7 Wednesday afternoon in Easton, Mass.

Junior Janine Enos (Wareham, Mass.) shut down the Skyhawks on 2 hits in the opening game. Enos (6-3) struck out seven on the afternoon and only walked one. Freshman Ashley Coon (Fairless Hills, PA) drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fourth to give the Bulldogs all the offense they would need.

Senior Amanda Wilbur

Seniors Lindsay Connor (West Haven, CT) and Amanda Gagne (Wilbraham, Mass.) each notched two hits ont he afternoon for the Bulldogs.

Bryant jumped out to a fast start in game two behind first-inning home runs by Connor and senior Amanda Wilbur (Lakeville, Mass.). Stonehill, however was able to get right back in the game after scoring a pair of runs in the first off Bulldog starter Anne Dobmeier (Buffalo, NY).

The Bulldogs exploded for six runs in the top of the second powered by a three-run Wilbur home run. The Bulldogs put the game away for good in a four-run sixth inning led by a two-run double by sophomore Kate Thomas (Bedford, NH).

Dobmeier (3-1) went the distance for the Bulldogs, fanning two. Wilbur, Connor, Gagne, Jess Valentini (Cliffside Park, NJ), Briana Durborow (Ringoes, NJ), and Alison Chouinard (Swansea, Mass.) each had two hits in the Bulldogs' second victory.

The Bulldogs return to action with a doubleheader versus Southern New Hampshire Saturday, and a twin bill against Merrimack Sunday. Both doubleheaders start at 12 noon.
