Softball Splits Saturday Doubleheader with St. Rose; Will Host Senior Day Tomorrow

April 21, 2007                           Game 1 Box                 Game 2 Box

St. Rose pitcher Kristen Callahan took a perfect game into the seventh inning, before senior Amanda Gagne (Wilbraham, Mass.) broke it up with one out in the inning. Gagne, then advanced to second, but was stranded as the Bulldogs fell 1-0. The team rebounded in game two behind a sterling pitching performance by Nikki Ingalls (Westford, Mass) to win 2-0 at the Bryant Softball Complex.

Ingalls (8-3) hurled a complete game one-hitter to win her fourth straight decision in the second game. The Bulldogs scraped out just enough offense on a Stephanie Mirando (North Haven, CT) RBI single in the fourth, and a soaring home run by Amanda Wilbur (Lakeville, Mass.). Wilbur stayed hot, going 2 of 3 and scoring both runs.

Callahan was the story of the first game. She ended up allowing only Gagne's single and struck out 7 bulldogs, while not allowing a walk. Janine Enos (Wareham, Mass.) took the hard luck loss. Enos (7-5) scattered six hits in seven innings and struck out 8.

The Bulldogs will return to action tomorrow against Le Moyne at 12 noon at the Bryant Softball Complex. The team will honor its six seniors in between games.
