SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior tri-captain Ali Chouinard (Swansea, Mass.) hit the game-winning double in the top of the eighth inning to score junior Jenna Jeffrey (Scarborough, Maine) to win game two of the doubleheader at Robert Morris Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs dropped game one 2-1 to the Colonials.

Bryant (5-28, 2-10) got on the board first in game two of the series with one run in the top of the second inning. Sophomore Lindsay Martin (Methuen, Mass.) reached base on a fielder’s choice and junior Regi Burdo (Wayne, Pa.) followed with a single. Sophomore Laura Bowen (Hudson, Mass.) singled in the next Bryant at bat to score Martin to earn her team-high 12th RBI of the season and give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead early.

The Bulldogs picked up one run in the top of the fourth and one in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead after five and a half innings of play.

Robert Morris (18-14, 8-3 NEC), the third ranked team in the Northeast Conference, was able to knot things up in the bottom of the sixth with three runs of their own on three hits.

Jeffrey started on second base to start the eighth for the Bulldogs and freshman Kelly Cocco (Vernon, Conn.) moved her to third with a groundout back to the pitcher. With one out in the top of the eighth, Chouinard followed with what turned out to be the game-winning double to right field to score Jeffrey. It was Chouinard’s sixth RBI of the season.

Bryant freshman pitcher Brittany Hart (North Andover, Mass.) came in to close out the game for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the eighth. Hart retired three consecutive batters to earn her fourth win of the 2010 campaign. With the win, Hart now has four of the five Bryant victories.

The Bulldogs were held to just two hits in the first game of the series as the Colonials defeated BU 2-1.

Robert Morris pitcher Alexa Bryson pitched a complete-game two hitter, giving up just one walk and striking out nine.

Lischinsky, Martin and Burdo all had two hits in the second game of action while Bowen was 2-6 with 2 RBIs on the day. Lischinsky had two doubles in game two.
