SOFTBALL FALLS TO #21 TEXAS TECH, 8-0

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team wrapped up its five-game road trip with an 8-0 loss to No. 21 Texas Tech Sunday afternoon, as the Bulldogs finished 1-4 at the Texas Tech Invitational in the first weekend of the season.

The Red Raiders picked up four runs in the bottom of the second and added two more in the third to build a 6-0 lead heading into the fifth. Bryant's Brittany Lithcinsky's (Mahopac, N.Y.) singled in the top of the fifth and pinch runner Lindsay Martin (Methuen, Mass.) advanced into scoring position, but the small rally by the visiting Bulldogs (1-4) would not produce, as the home side added one more in the fifth and sixth inning, respectively, to take the 8-0 win in six innings of play.

Bryant (1-4) starter Samantha Houseal (Mount Joy, Pa.) took the loss allowing six runs in her second outing on the mound for the Bulldogs before giving way to Brittany Hart (North Andover, Mass.) The Bulldogs managed just four hits in the game as Red Raiders starter Brittany Talley pitched six strong innings allowing just a quartet of hits while striking out four and walking just one.

Lauren Guy (La Habra, Calif.), Laura Bowen (Hudson, Mass.), Lischinsky and Lauren McCart (Voorhees, N.J.) accounted for Bryant's four hits in the game.

The Bulldogs have two weeks before returning to action in the annual Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Florida. Bryant will head to Florida from March 6-11 and play 10 games in five days.
