SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team (17-14, 7-3 Northeast) travels to Boston Thursday afternoon for a non-conference tilt with Boston University (20-12, 6-3 America East) at the BU Softball Field. Thursday's game, originally scheduled for Wednesday, marks the second-straight season both programs are meeting, as the Terriers took the most recent head-to-head, 4-0, in Boston on Wednesday, April 14, 2010.

Scouting the Bulldogs

Bryant enters Thursday's contest looking to get back on track after dropping three of its last four. The Bulldogs split a NEC doubleheader against Robert Morris on Saturday, April 9, but then fell to Quinnipiac twice on the following day. Bryant posted a combined 10 runs in the four-game stretch and surrendered 18 runs during the 1-3 run.

At the dish, Bryant has been led by Aubrey Mable (Aurora, Colo.), who has gone 8-for-18 in the past six games. Mable has racked up two doubles and one triple during that span and has posted a .524 on-base percentage. Fellow classmate Amy Weinberg (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) has come on strong as of late, registering five hits in 14 plate appearances since April 6.

In the circle, Samantha Houseal (Mount Joy, Pa.) is inching closer and closer to breaking the all-time career strikeout record set by Jannie Enos (439 K's:2005-2008). Despite the losing skid, Houseal is 2-1 in her last three outings and has dealt 11k's in that three-game span. Having pitched three-straight complete games, the Pennsylvania native has allowed a combined three earned runs and two extra base hits in 21.0 innings of work.

Scouting the Terriers

BU is coming off a thrilling 5-3 victory over UMBC on Sunday afternoon. After splitting the doubleheader on Saturday, the two squads battled through 7 1/2 innings before Chelsea Kehr stepped to the plate with one out and a runner on first and cranked a two-run walk-off homer that sailed over the fence in center field. With the victory, BU moved into second place in the America East standings behind Albany.

Senior April Setterlund continues to lead the offense, batting .392 with 31 hits, eight doubles and six home runs. She has driven in a team-best 27 runs and leads the league with 22 stolen bases. With four career program records already to her name, she is now just two RBIs away from a fifth.

In the pitcher's circle, the staff is led by freshman Holli Floetker's 9-3 mark and a 1.67 ERA. She has struck out a team-best 73 batters in 16 appearances while holding opposing offenses to a .211 batting average.
