SOFTBALL FRESHMAN PITCHER ELLE MADSEN EARNS FOURTH NEC HONORS THIS SEASN

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After another fantastic week in the pitching circle and at the dish, Bryant University softball freshman Elle Madsen (Wheat Ridge, Colo.) was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the fourth time, announced by NEC Monday.

Her fourth honor in five weeks, Madsen has solidified herself as one of the finest young players in the Northeast Conference. The freshman helped lead the Bulldogs to a 5-1 record over the past week, including a seven-game win streak prior to the Game 2 loss vs. Robert Morris on Sunday.

Madsen continues to produce in both the circle and the plate for the Bulldogs over the past six games, posting a 2-0 record with a 2.05 era in 13.2 innings pitched. At the plate, the Colorado-native hit .333 with seven hits, including two doubles, a triple and a home run to go along with five RBI and four runs scored.

Madsen is one of three NEC rookies to win multiple Rookie of the Week awards this year, with both others only receiving two selections.

The Bryant softball team will wrap-up its regular season on Thursday when it heads to Chestnut Hill, Mass., for a 4 p.m. rematch with Boston College.
