UPDATE: Chanticleer Challenge schedule changes

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After nearly a two-week hiatus, the Bryant University softball team returns to action over the weekend when they head to Conway, S.C., for the Chanticleer Challenge.

Despite dropping four of five at the UTSA Mid-Major Classic to open the season, the Bulldogs picked up a huge 8-2 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the tournament finale. Sophomore Elle Madsen (Wheat Ridge, Colo.) was terrific both at the plate, hitting .545 with three homeruns and seven RBI, and in the pitching circle, striking out a dozen and earning the lone Bulldog victory.

Senior shortstop Aubrey Mable (Aurora, Colo.) picked up right where she left off last season, going 7-for-15 on the weekend with a pair of doubles and a homer, while junior outfielder Madeline Velasquez (Los Angeles, Calif.) got off to a strong start as well, hitting .412 with seven hits and four RBI.

After wrapping up tournament play at Coastal Carolina, the Black and Gold with make a stop at the College of Charlestown for a Tuesday evening doubleheader with the Cougars before heading to Clearwater, Fla., for the USF Spring Break Tournament from March 14-16.
