Softball falls at Albany, 6-0, Tues. afternoon

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team fell to Albany, 6-0, Tuesday afternoon in a rainy day in New York.

Senior centerfielder Madeline Velasquez (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the Bulldogs (10-22) with a pair of hits, but it wasn't enough as the Great Danes (16-8) pick up their third-straight victory.

After a 1-2-3 first inning for Bryant, Albany broke the scoreless tie with a two-run single from Elizabeth Snow in the bottom half of the inning before adding two more in the second and the third.

Junior Hayley Bottino (Canyon Country, Calif.) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits in two innings to fall to 2-8 on the year, while freshman Logan Paul (Shaker Heights, Ohio) gave up a pair of runs on just three hits in four innings of relief.

The Black and Gold return to action on Wednesday when they host Brown in their home opener at 4 p.m. at Conaty Park.
