Burger's big weekend lands her NEC and ECAC Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore outfielder Taylor Burger (Killingworth, Conn.) of the Bryant University softball team put together a weekend to remember, earning her first career Northeast Conference and ECAC Player of the Week honors, announced the league Monday afternoon.

Burger was absolutely on fire at the dish over the weekend as the sophomore outfielder went 7-for-12 (.583) with four homers, a triple, eight RBI and four runs scored in just four games. On Saturday, Burger kick started Bryant's offense in Game 1 vs. LIU Brooklyn, launching a first-inning grand slam over the outfield fence, only to follow it up with another homer in Game 2.

On Sunday vs. Saint Francis U., the Connecticut native kept it rolling with two more homers, one in each game of the doubleheader, to up her season total to a career-high nine. Burger currently leads the NEC in slugging percentage at .747 and ranks second in homeruns (9), trailing only teammate Elle Madsen (Wheat Ridge, Colo.) who has 12.

Burger and the Bulldogs wrap up the regular season with single games at Providence on Tuesday and vs. Boston College on Thursday.
