River Hawks visit Conaty Park, Wednesday at 4 p.m.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In the last nonconference home game of the 2016 slate, the Bryant University softball team hosts UMass Lowell on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The Bulldogs (6-33, 5-7 NEC) enter the contest looking to break a seven game losing streak, most recently dropping both doubleheader games at Robert Morris by one score, including the 4-3 loss in eight innings.

Senior Elle Madsen (Wheat Ridge, Colo.) leads the team, batting .312 with a .431 slugging percentage through 38 games, while junior Taylor Burger (Killingworth, Conn.) tops the Bulldogs' chart with one triple, three homeruns and 13 RBI. The Bulldogs bat .201 on the season and their pitching unit averages a 5.47 ERA, headed by Madsen's 3.25 in 20 contests.

The River Hawks (10-36, 2-13 America East) are coming off a 2-1 finish against conference foe Hartford, including two one-run wins against the Hawks. Lowell also recently split games with Central Connecticut, beating the Blue Devils, 3-2, before falling 8-3 in game two of the doubleheader.

The River Hawks are led by Tori Alcorn's .343 batting average, while the team bats .222 as a unit. Alcorn also leads Lowell with 28 runs, 47 hits, nine doubles, two triples, eight RBI and a .482 slugging percentage. Kaysee Talcik has seen the most time on the mound, earning a 5-13 mark, while topping the pitching staff with a 3.12 ERA.

This year's contest marks the fifth meeting between the Bulldogs and River Hawks in Division I play with the series mark in Bryant's favor, 3-1. Last season, the teams split games with the Bulldogs winning most recently, 5-1, in Lowell.
