Clancy strikes out six in game 2 of the doubleheader losses vs. SHU

Smithfield, R.I. - Alexis Clancy of the Bryant Univeristy softball team pitched her first career complete game and struck out a career-high six batters in the 2-1 loss against Sacred Heart. The Black and Gold fell 11-2 in game one of the doubleheader.

"Really proud of our fight, down to only two healthy pitchers we were able to battle hard, got a great start from Lex we just couldn't get the big hit when we needed it".

How it Happened (Game 1)

• In the top of the first, the Pioneers hit a three-run home run for the game's first score (3-0).
• The Pioneers hit a solo home run to left in the top of the third (4-0).
• Gianna Ceccarelli hit a one-out single, and then Morgan Powell tripled down the left-field line bringing in Ceccarelli in the bottom of third (4-1).
• In the top of the fifth Sacred Heart scored seven runs on a grand slam and a three-run home run (11-1).
• The Bulldogs reached first base on a Pioneer error. Allison Tomaino advanced to second on a groundout, and Alexandra Hickey brought in the game's final run on a single in the bottom of the fifth (11-2).
