2023 Season Preview

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University softball team is set to begin the 2023 season on Friday at the Bash of the Boro in Georgia. The Bulldogs are bringing back 20 players from last year's team and have added eight freshmen and one transfer to the team for this season.

 

Infielders

The infield will be led by senior Aleix Hudson, who led the team in home runs (5), RBIs (21), hits (35), and a batting average of .313. She will be joined by seniors Jenna Gardner, Erica Barley, and Megan Skousen. Barley and Gardner combined for 16 RBIs and 25 hits in 2022. The seniors will be accompanied by Courtney Paolantonio and Megan Marcel, who launched five home runs and accounted for 36 RBIs. Alexis Clancy, who led the team in doubles with seven, will be joined by Allison Tessman, Alyssa Garabedian, McKenzie McAloon, Madison Fitzgerald, Abby Trimble, and Morgan Tesser.

 

Outfield

Seniors Olivia Fee and Hailey Aspinwall will lead the pack in the outfield for the Black and Gold. The duo played 66 games combined. Junior Trystan Salvador and sophomore Amira Rainer will join them.

 

Pitchers

Senior Kylie Kenney brings the most experience to the pitching staff, recording 96.2 innings and 80 strikeouts, which were the most on the team. Juniors Alexis Clancy and Caroline Paolantonio will accompany her and sophomore Josie Gex.

 

Newcomers

The Bulldogs are welcoming eight freshmen, Gracie Bishop, Hannah Cochran, Ashley Kaiser, Ava Paganis, Ashley Pierce, Lexi Powell, Brooke Tracy, Faith Valenzuela, and senior transfer Olyvia Smith.
