Bryant drops both to UMBC on Sunday

BALTIMORE, MD. - The Bryant University softball team fell to UMBC in both games of their Sunday doubleheader.

  • UMBC hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh (1-0).

How it Happened (GM1)

  • With one out in the bottom of the seventh, the Retrievers hit a solo home run to walk off and win 1-0.
  • The Bulldogs were no-hit during the game.

Key Moment (GM2)

  • After the Black and Gold earned a two-run lead (2-0) in the fifth inning, UMBC responded with six runs in the fifth and sixth innings (6-2).

How it Happened (GM2)

  • Olivia Fee hit a leadoff single in the top of the third inning. Fee advanced to third base on a groundout, and then Megan Marcel hit a double to left field, scoring a run (1-0).
  • Fee reached base and advanced to second on a UMBC error and a groundout, which set up Aleix Hudson, who slapped a single to left field bringing home fee (2-0) in the top of the fifth inning.
  • The Retrievers responded with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game (2-2).
  • During the bottom of the sixth inning, UMBC added four runs on a two-run home run and a two-RBI single (6-2).

  • Hudson and Marcel had a hit and an RBI.
  • Fee tallied one hit and two runs.
  • Kylie Kenney tallied three strikeouts, and Lexi Powell recorded one.
