Bishop and Hudson combine for six hits and five RBIs in win at Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Gracie Bishop of the Bryant University softball team goes 4-4 from the plate with a solo home run in the Bulldogs' 8-1 victory against Brown in game two. Aleix Hudson produced a 2-2 day from the plate with four RBIs, including a two-run home run.

Lexi Powell earned her first career victory as a Bulldog and recorded three strikeouts. This is the Black and Golds' first victory over Brown since 2019.

"I was really happy with how we bounced back today and didn't let a slow start ruin our day. We got our bats going a bit in game 2, as well as a great pitching effort".

• The Bears held Bryant scoreless through five innings.

How it Happened (GM1)

• In the bottom of the first inning, the Bears hit two bloop singles that brought home three (3-0).
• With two outs, Brown added one more run on a solo home run to left field (4-0) in the bottom of the third (4-0).
• The Bears tallied two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly (6-0).
• During the bottom of the fifth inning, the Bears hit an RBI single through the left side (7-0).
• Courtney Paolantonio and Morgan Tesser hit back-to-back singles in the top of the sixth. Erica Barley drew a walk to load the bases, which led to a sacrifice fly from Abby Trimble (7-1).

How it Happened (GM2)

• Hudson began the game with a walk in the top of the first, followed by a Megan Marcel single. Courtney Paolantonio then hit an RBI triple to right-center, clearing the bases (2-0).
• Bishop and Olivia Fee recorded consecutive singles, which loaded the bases after a Bears error. Hudson then slapped a single through the left side of the infield, scoring two runs (4-0) in the top of the second.
• In the bottom of the third, Brown scored one run on a single through the right side (4-1).
• Bryant quickly responded with one run in the top of the fourth off a sac fly from Olyvia Smith during the top of the fourth (5-1). Then Gardner reached on a fielding error and proceeded to steal second, which set up Hudson, who launched a two-run HR over the left-field wall (7-1).
• In the top of the fifth inning, the Bulldogs added to their total with a solo home run from Bishop that hit off the scoreboard in left-center (8-1).
