McAloon and Courtney Paolantonio come up clutch in Extras against UML

LOWELL, MASS. - Courtney Paolantonio and McKenzie McAloon recorded three RBIs in the top of the eighth inning to give the Bryant University softball team a 4-1 victory in game two against UMass Lowell.

Kylie Kenney struck out five batters in relief, including two of the three batters faced during the bottom of the eighth inning.

"Great team effort today, the bats came alive late with a couple of clutch hits, and we got outstanding pitching from the entire staff, which helped us out last them in the end."

• The River Hawks broker the 1-1 tie with two runs in the third.

How it Happened (GM1)

• In the top of the second inning, Megan Marcel hit a leadoff single up the middle. Abby Trimble then hit a double, which set up Hannah Cochran, who scored the game's first run on an RBI single (1-0).
• The River Hawks tied the game at one in the next half inning on a sacrifice fly to right field (1-1).
• During the bottom of the third, UML added two runs on a double and a single (3-1).
• In the top of the fourth inning, Courtney Paolantonio reached on a fielder's choice, and Trimble knocked a single to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Cochran then hit a check swing single and beat out the throw from the pitcher to get the Bulldogs within one (3-2).

• Hudson singled up the middle, and Marcel drew a walk to begin the game. Trimble then hit a single down the left field line to score a run (1-0) in the top of the first.
• In the bottom of the fourth, UML hit an RBI single up the middle to tie the game (1-1).
• Hudson hit a single with one out, and then Trimble and Trystan Salvador reached base on a UML error and a walk. Courtney Paolantonio then hit an RBI single to right field, scoring two in the top of the eighth inning (3-1). McAloon hit a double to the gap bringing home a run (4-1).
