Cochran hits the go-ahead HR as the Bulldogs earn a series win against Maine

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Hannah Cochran records the go-ahead home run, the first of her career in the Bryant University softball team's 4-3 home victory against Maine.

Courtney Paolantonio registered two hits, two RBIs, and the game-tying home run. She finished the series 6-10 from the plate with four RBIs. Kylie Kenney struck out five and gave up no runs in five innings of relief.

The Black and Gold picked up their first America East series win of the season.

"I'm so proud of our fight today as a team. We got down early but didn't quit. Got great pitching from Kylie to keep us in it and some clutch hits to take the series."

  • Cochran launched a home run to left field to give the Bulldogs the lead in the bottom of the sixth (4-3).

How it Happened (GM1)

  • Maine began the game with an RBI single in the top of the first (1-0).
  • During the top of the second inning, the Black Bears added two runs on a Bulldog error and double (3-0).
  • McKenzie McAloon was hit by a pitch to begin the bottom of the third. She then advanced to second on a ground out, setting up Courtney Paolantonio, who ripped a single up the middle, scoring a run (3-1).
  • In the bottom of the fourth inning, Megan Marcel recorded a leadoff single but then was out on a double play. Cochran launched a double to right with two outs, followed by a pinch-hit single for Gracie Bishop getting the Black and Gold within one (3-2).
  • With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Courtney Paolantonio crushed a ball to left field, tying the game at three (3-3).
  • Cochran gave the Bulldogs the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning on a solo shot to left-center (4-3).
