Kenney and Tracy go 7 each as the Bulldogs win both against Stonehill

EASTON, MASS. - The Bryant University softball team won both games against Stonehill on the road during a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader.

The Black and Gold hit three home runs in a row courtesy of Megan Marcel, Amira Rainer, and Morgan Tesser, as Kylie Kenney dealt 13 strikeouts in the game-one win.

Brooke Tracy earned her second career win in game two, recording her first complete game and holding the Skyhawks to one run on three hits.

  • The Bulldogs broke the 3-3 tie with three solo HRs in the top of the fifth.

How it Happened (GM1)

  • Olyiva Smith recorded a leadoff walk at the top of the first, and Courtney Paolantonio single to third base. Megan Marcel hit a deep fly to right field, which moved Smith third. Abby Trimble then grounded out to shirt, bringing home a run (1-0). With two outs, the Bulldogs added two more runs on an Amira Rainer double and a Morgan Tesser double (3-0).
  • The Skyhawks responded with a leadoff triple and RBI single in the bottom of the first (3-1).
  • During the bottom of the third, Stonehill tied the game at three on a Black and Gold error (3-3).
  • In the top of the fifth inning, Marcel broke the tie with a solo home run, followed by back-to-back solo HRs from Rainer and Tesser, which were the first of their careers (6-3).

How it Happened (GM2)

  • Madison Fitzgerald was walked with one out in the top of the second, which set up Alyssa Garabedian, who slapped a double to the gap, bringing home Fitzgerald (1-0).
  • The Skyhawks tied the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the second (1-1).
  • During the top of the third, Smith reached on an error, and Courtney Paolantonio tallied a double to move the runner to third. Marcel then hit a single, loading the bases, and Tesser then hit a groundout that brought Smith home (2-1).
  • In the top of the 7th, Garabedian hit a leadoff single, followed by a single from Faith Valenzuela, who then advanced a base on a Skyhawks error. Courtney Paolanotnio hit a sac fly, and Marcel slapped a single through the infield, giving the Bulldogs a 4-1 lead.
