Bryant tallies 11 hits in the game 2 win against UMBC

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Aleix Hudson tallies three hits and two RBIs, and Megan Marcel has two hits and RBIs as the Bryant University softball team defeats UMBC 6-5 at Conaty Park in game two of the series.

Brooke Tracy had two strikeouts in the victory, and Kylie Kenney earned her first save of the season in a four-strikeout relief performance.

Olivia Smith recorded two hits in the game and recorded her 100th career hit.

How it Happened (GM2)

  • Smith hit a leadoff single to begin the game, and Courtney Paolantonio was hit by a pitch putting two runners on for the Black and Gold. Hudson then slapped a two-RBI double to the gap, followed by Marcel's RBI single (3-0).
  • In the bottom of the third, Hudson hit a single, and Marcel was walked. Hailey Aspinwall came in as a pinch runner, Morgan Tesser hit a bloop single to right field, and UMBC threw the ball over the 3B head bringing home two (5-0).
  • UMBC hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth (5-2).
  • Smith and Courtney Paolantonio hit back-to-back singles with one out. Marcel then singled to the shortstop, scoring a run in the bottom of the fourth inning (6-2).
  • UMBC scored three runs in the fifth but failed to achieve the game-tying run, giving the Bulldogs the victory (6-5).
