Cochran, Marcel, and Coleman go yard in DH sweep of Brown on Wednesday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team earned their first doubleheader sweep of Brown in program history with 2-1 and 11-3 victories at Conaty Park on Wednesday.

Hannah Cochran hit a home run in the game-one victory. Megan Marcel and Makenna Coleman went deep during the game-two win, while Alexis Clancy went 3-3 at the plate with four RBIs.

  • The Bears didn't score until the sixth inning.

How it Happened (GM1)

  • Cochran began the game with a lead-off solo home run to left field in the bottom of the first (1-0).
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Marcel hit a single and was pinch-ran for by Alyssa Garabedian. She advanced to second on a foul out, setting up Coleman, who hit a double to left center, giving Bryant a 2-0 lead.
  • The Bears cut the lead to one off a sacrifice fly to right field in the top of the sixth inning (2-1).
  • Kenney dealt a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the seventh to secure the win for the Black and Gold.

How it Happened (GM2)

  • Cochran began the bottom of the firstby drawing a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Olyvia Smith then moved Cochran to third base on a sac bunt. Aleix Hudson drew a walk, allowing Clancy to knock an RBI double to the gap, bringing home two (2-0). Alexis Larrow tallied the final run of the inning off of a single through the right side (3-0).
  • In the bottom of the third inning, Hudson hit a double to right and advanced to third on a passed ball. Clancy then slapped a single, scoring Hudson (4-0). The Bulldogs then had runners on first and second because of an HBP and a fielder's choice. Marcel then launched a three-run bomb to right-center, extending the lead to 7-0.
  • Gracie Bishop hit a single in the next at-bat, followed by a two-run home run from Coleman, the first of her career (9-0).
  • With two outs, Smith hit a single, and then Hudson brought Smith home from a double (10-0). The Bulldogs' eighth run of the third inning was produced by a Clancy RBI single (11-0).
  • The Bears scored three runs in the top of the fourth on two doubles (11-3).
